About Paul Redman — web designer in Watford, Hertfordshire: One person. Fully invested.
I design and build websites for practices, founders and independent businesses who want a site made properly, not assembled — and want to deal with the person actually making it.

01 / The story
Big-brand experience. A very personal way of working.
I spent twenty-five years in software engineering — for the BBC, Sky, LEGO, Argos, Barclays, Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, with agency years at AKQA and Wunderman Thompson.
At that scale a slow page or a broken checkout costs money by the hour, so you learn to care about the parts nobody sees: how a page loads on a cheap phone, what a search engine actually reads, what breaks when someone edits the content at midnight. That is the standard I still work to.
Redman Studio points it at independent businesses, practices and founders. I keep the studio deliberately small: it gives me room to understand your business and stay close to the work, and when you have a question you ask the person building it.

02 / Working together
You talk to the person who does the work.
01
First, I listen.
We talk about your business, your customers and what the site needs to achieve. I ask questions, look at what you already have and help you decide what is worth doing — and what is not.
02
Then I give it direction.
Structure, content and design, shaped around your business. You see the thinking behind each decision and give feedback as it takes shape, not once it is finished.
03
I build the whole thing.
Design, code, search foundations and the practical details — the enquiry form, the booking flow, payments where they are needed — done by the same pair of hands, so nothing is lost in a handoff.
04
Launch is a beginning.
I show you how to run it. Ongoing care is there if you want me to keep looking after it, and if you would rather not, the site is yours to take anywhere.
In their words
“He took the colours, logo and ideas I already had and turned them into something that looks exactly as I’d imagined it — only better.”
“He didn’t just make the website look better — he completely elevated it.”
“Nothing is ever too much trouble for him, and he always takes the time to explain things and make sure everything is done properly.”
“A master of his art.”
03 / What matters to me
A good website. A good experience getting there.
C / Clarity
Plain English. Clear scope.
You should know what you are paying for, what is included and what happens next. Every fee is published, and the scope is agreed in writing before work starts.
M / Made properly
Details that earn their place.
The type, the words, the mobile layout, the booking journey. A site should feel considered and be easy to use — and still work when JavaScript does not.
Y / Your next step
Built around what happens next.
A site exists to help people understand you, trust you and get in touch. Search visibility and the functions that matter are part of the thinking from the first sketch.
K / Keep
Yours to keep.
The code, the domain, the content and the search value it earns belong to you from launch. No platform rent, no lock-in, nothing to pay to leave.
Before we talk
A few useful answers.
Will I work directly with Paul?
Yes, from the first call to launch and after it. Redman Studio is one person: there are no account managers, juniors or offshore developers, so the person you brief is the person who designs and builds the site, and the person who answers when you have a question.
Do you only work with businesses in Watford?
No. The studio is based in Watford, Hertfordshire, and meets local clients in person, but most of the work runs remotely — clients are across Hertfordshire, London and the rest of the UK, with some abroad. Local search for Watford and Hertfordshire.
Can you help with an existing website?
Yes. That can mean a restyle, a rebuild on a modern stack, moving off Wix or Squarespace, or fixing what stops it being found. A rebuild keeps the pages and rankings you have already earned: every existing URL is mapped and kept before a line is changed.
Do you build search visibility into the site?
Every site ships as HTML that Google and AI assistants can read without running JavaScript, with structured data, question-shaped headings and a Google Business Profile kept consistent with the site. Nobody can promise a ranking; the site can be built to be readable and quotable, which is what those systems select for. How the search programme works.
What does a project cost?
Every price is published. The smallest engagement starts at £1,500; a Launch site is £3,500 and the standard Business build is £8,500. Fees are fixed and agreed in writing before work starts, and design is included. The full price list.
Your business. My full attention.
Tell me where you are, what you are planning and what needs to work better. I reply personally, usually within a day.
